The World Federation of Healing was inaugurated in 1975 at Westfield College, London University.
From the fourteen countries represented at the inaugural conference, the World Federation of Healing has grown to include membership in more than thirty countries.
As a World Federation it has endeavoured to hold its voting conferences in different countries and so far these have taken place in England, Wales, Canada, Holland, Australia, Germany and Austria.
It is a unique Organisation because its aims are to unite all practitioners in the healing fields, whether they be doctors of allopathic or homeopathic persuasion, alternative therapists, ministers of religion, healers etc.
The World Federation of Healing now includes in its membership practitioners in more than fifty different therapies.
An indication of the wide interest in this organisation is that of the seven Presidents, three have been medical doctors.
The World Federation of Healing was one of the founder members of the Confederation of Healing Organisations (CHO) which is the National Organisation that officially represents the main healing organisations in the United Kingdom.
Aims and Objectives
1. The World Federation of Healing seeks to unite all practitioners in the healing field into the recognition of the holistic approach to health. Recognising that all creatures exist on a multi dimensional basis, i.e. body, mind and spirit. That disease may result from disharmony in any of these areas.
2. It seeks to establish harmony and co-operation between all branches of the healing disciplines to enable each to use its own particular skills to the maximum benefit of the sick in, mind, body or spirit.
3. The Federation aims to cut across the barriers of language, race or culture by drawing together under one umbrella exponents of all disciplines of healing from whatever race or background they may come. to assist individually and collectively in promoting world awareness of Man`s spiritual nature and its reflection on bodily health and happiness.
4. It seeks to draw into membership all qualified practitioners whether allopathic, homeopathic or other alternative therapies such as acupuncture, osteopathy, psychotherapy, chiropractic, radionics, herbalism, naturopathy, diet, healing etc. It aims to alert the public to the existence of these various disciplines and to guide and encourage their responsible use in co-operation between practitioner and patient.
5. The Federation aims to educate the public to their responsibility for their own health. To knowing that in addition to receiving treatment they can help themselves from within through the greater use of natural resources.
6. The Federation will promote all aspects of the holistic approach to health by providing a platform at meetings and conferences for the different disciplines to be lectured upon and discussed.
7. It seeks to maintain and improve standards of practice and competence of practitioners in all disciplines of healing and to identify and expose any incompetence or malpractice found to be detrimental to the high standard it has set.
8. The Federation seeks to be a bridge to enable individuals of all the healing disciplines to join together into the one organisation so that by closer co-operation as individuals or through their respective organisations they may widen and improve their service to the cause of world health.
9. The Federation will work to secure the passage of legislation by the United Kingdom and European Parliaments which will recognise the alternative professional practitioner and healer.
10. The Federation welcomes the more liberal attitude now becoming prevalent within the British Medical profession and will alert other countries and the public to the conditions under which medical practitioners may co-operate with non medical practitioners and healers without fear of disciplinary action.
11. The Federation seeks to offer the knowledge and research of the world to aid the less developed countries and to encourage the use of alternative therapies, especially where medical aid is limited.
12. The Federation will seek to co-ordinate and promote research programmes. These will be mainly concerned with the ways in which the holistic aspect of health can be achieved by wider public understanding and education. The research into specific diseases will be considered when the level of the research fund allows this.
13. The Federation will encourage the compiling of National Directories of Healers.
